The smooth and anti-rhythmic sound of jazz will take you away like you’re in a corny Calgon commercial. It’s one of the coziest (read: tiniest) jazz bars in New York City, which makes the live jazz experience that much sweeter, you know, because of acoustics. They only showcase the best jazz artists in the world here, so whoever is on stage on youu big night is surely to be an incredible show. Unless, your heart is black.
Blue Note takes after what it’s named. There’s a blue light cast all over the lounge that will make you and your birthday celebrating friends look like hot sex on a platter. Ok, it’s just lighting, it won’t do that, but it’s a gorgeous glow. It should make you want to sway along to the live jazz music. It’s like being in a fantasy land—jazz and booze. Yasss!
Whether you’re looking for a special birthday brunch or dinner, you’ll be met with delectable choices. From lobster ravioli to spicy fish chowder to a black angus filet mignon, Blue Note has a well-rounded menu, but it plays background to the live shows you’re obviously there to see. You and your friends can keep things classy because they only serve wine and liqueur. There will be no Lindsey Lohans at your party!
This venue is for the grown and sexy. Or if you’re in your 20’s and like jazz, we guess you could show up. But just know, everyone in there is judging you and jealous because you’re younger than them. This will be a very tight night, so prepare with either a very intimate group of your favorite friends (and not the ones who always flake on you) or your significant other to avoid not getting in. The bright side of being this up close and personal in Blue Note? Getting the same experience with the amazing talent who’s performing. Win!
